I put the finishing touches on it a few weeks ago and hung it in my studio. I found that already the house is gone and a grocery store & parking lot is being erected on what was once a pristine agricultural site here in the Monadnock Region of NH. Certainly brings back Joni Mitchell's poignant "Paved Paradise" in full volume for me.
It is an opportunity not to miss, painting en plein air, for progress disrupts the locale in a short time. I am certainly glad this painting will be a reminder of this recent change in landscape close to me.

SPRING INTO COLOR CLASSES to Begin!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 257px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Mh12stesV7U/Sa6_KrlSVeI/AAAAAAAAABk/0MH2saumZlA/s320/Running+Upstream+lo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309391200935106018" />

SPRING INTO COLOR!

This its the time of year that stirs color in the soul!
Share the excitement of Spring colors to come.
Pastel Classes for beginning and intermediate pastelists.

Tuesdays 10:30 AM - 12:30 Pm in Jaffrey, NH at the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main ST.

Come paint pastel using the vibrance of the broken color technique.
Class is optimal for experienced pastelist's, hobbyists are very welcome.

Feel free to bring a snack with you.

Our Paintings will be created in layers on a textured surface which
allows wonderful manipulation of the pastel medium .
A watercolor or pastel under-painting will be applied and pastel
worked on top. I am really looking forward to Spring!

I remember Spring- like it was yesterday, out in the warmth of the sun, observing Nature at it's best... budding trees, birds singing, muddy roads for Spring walks.

I can tell you I am READY for it to return!
Along with the excitement of the changing season is that for Spring Art Exhibitions and new art opportunities... I really cannot wait!

Meanwhile I took out my paints & pastels too... created seven new works celebrating the winter season... and started the eight... I cannot finish it it is just too darned cold! More ice tonight they say BRRR......

I need the end of winter if you see a groundhog please put in a good word for me. I long for enjoyable outdoor painting- without many layers of clothes, without fingerless gloves and cold toes! If there is anything that makes me feel older than my age it is painting in winter!

So help me concentrate on bringing us all a warm and glorious Spring season.... to motivate my thirst for color and expression!
I was pleased to have 2 recent works in the "Monadnock Arts" Auction in Jaffrey, NH this last week .
